응용·환경미생물학실험실

Applied & Environmental Microbiology

1986년 충남대학교 미생물학과의 신설과 함께 출범한 응용환경미생물학실험실은 20여년의 역사를 갖고 있다. 본 실험실은 지금까지 8명의 박사와 36명의 석사학위자를 배출한 바 있으며, 이들은 현재 국내외의 대학, 기업 및 연구소 등에서 중견 혹은 신진연구자로서 그리고 생명과학 분야의 CEO로서 활발히 활동하고 있다.
본 실험실에서 수행하고 있는 중점 연구분야는 미생물로부터 생산되는 폴리에스터 고분자인 polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs)의 생합성과 생분해에 관한 것으로서, 이와 관련된 기초연구는 물론 PHAs의 의료용 소재로의 활용을 위한 응용연구가 진행 중이다. 또한 환경정화 및 슬러지 감량화를 위한 미생물제제의 개발 및 응용기술에 대한 연구를 수행하고 있다. 이러한 연구를 중심으로 지금까지 10건의 특허출원과 120 여편의 논문이 발표되었다. 현재 한국과학재단, 학술진흥재단, 환경부 등의 지원과제와 중소기업체 두 곳과의 산학협동연구를 수행하고 있다.
